What We Offer
-
The most efficient rest you've never tried. Yoga nidra — often called "yogic sleep" — is a guided meditation practice that systematically brings the body and mind into the hypnagogic state between waking and sleep. In this threshold, the nervous system does something it rarely gets to do in ordinary life: it fully releases. Physiologically, 45 minutes of yoga nidra is said to equal several hours of conventional sleep in terms of nervous system restoration. At Very Well KC, yoga nidra is offered as a weekly guided practice — often woven into our Wednesday evening sound bath — and as a standalone class. You lie down. You follow a voice. You go somewhere deep. Most people don't fully believe how effective it is until they try it.
-
Yoga the way it was meant to feel. Not a workout to survive. Not a flexibility contest. At Very Well KC, yoga is practiced as what it actually is — a system for building a functional, aware relationship with your body. Our classes tend toward the slower, more intentional end of the spectrum: alignment-based, accessible, and rooted in the understanding that how you move matters more than how far you can go. Whether you're brand new to yoga or returning after years away, our instructors meet you at your actual starting point — not the Instagram version. Classes are small enough to feel personal. The space is warm enough to feel safe.

Your mind isn't broken. It just needs somewhere to land. Meditation at Very Well KC is practical, grounded, and stripped of the pressure to do it perfectly. Our guided meditation offerings draw from mindfulness traditions, breath awareness practices, and body-based approaches — all designed to give your nervous system a reliable way back to regulation. Effective for chronic stress, anxiety, sleep disruption, emotional reactivity, and the particular mental exhaustion of living in a world that never quite turns off. Available as standalone guided sessions and woven throughout our class offerings. No prior experience required — just a willingness to sit with yourself for a few minutes longer than feels comfortable.

The workout that works on you instead of the other way around. Block Therapy is a bodywork practice that pairs targeted pressure — from a wooden block or a rolled-up towel — with deep diaphragmatic breathing to release adhesions in the fascia, the connective tissue that wraps every muscle, joint, and organ in the body. Where repetitive motion, old injuries, misalignment, and everyday stress cause that tissue to bind and stick, Block Therapy works it loose, restoring the glide and flow the body needs to move well. The result is better posture, greater flexibility and mobility, and real relief from tension and stiffness — along with more strength and alignment built from the inside out. It's a natural complement to yoga, chair yoga, Pilates, and any fitness practice you already love.
At Very Well KC, this 60-minute class is led by Jennifer Fox, a certified Block Therapist. You'll move through guided sequences using the block (or towel) and breath together, working section by section through the body. No prior bodywork experience needed — just a willingness to lean into a little pressure and breathe through it. Most people leave lighter, taller, and more at ease in their own skin.

You don't stretch in restorative yoga. You dissolve. Restorative yoga uses bolsters, blankets, and props to support the body in completely passive postures held for extended periods — removing the need for muscular effort entirely so the nervous system can shift from sympathetic (fight-or-flight) into parasympathetic (rest-and-digest). The results are tangible and sometimes startling: reduced cortisol, improved sleep, released chronic tension, and a quality of rest that most people haven't felt in years. At Very Well KC, restorative yoga is offered as its own practice — not as the cool-down at the end of something harder. Because rest this deep deserves its own hour.
-
Your breath is the only part of your autonomic nervous system you can consciously control. That makes it one of the most powerful tools in healing — and one of the most underused. Somatic breathwork at Very Well KC goes beyond basic breathing exercises into intentional, body-based breath practices that work directly with the nervous system to release stored tension, complete incomplete stress responses, and move stuck emotional and physical energy. Trauma-informed and practitioner-guided, sessions create a safe container for what can be surprisingly profound work. Particularly effective for anxiety, trauma, emotional suppression, chronic tension patterns, and anyone who has felt that talk-based approaches only go so far. The body knows things the mind hasn't caught up to yet.

Breath is the bridge between body and mind. Pranayama — the yogic science of breath regulation — is one of the oldest and most sophisticated systems for working with the nervous system, energy, and mental state through conscious control of the breath. Different techniques produce different effects: some calm, some energize, some sharpen focus, some create heat, some induce states of profound stillness. At Very Well KC, pranayama is woven into yoga and meditation offerings and taught as its own practice for students who want to go deeper. Learning to work with your breath is a skill that travels with you everywhere — into stress, into sleep, into the moments that usually hijack you.

Lie down. Close your eyes. Let the sound do the rest. A sound bath is a fully immersive acoustic experience — you're bathed in the resonance of live instruments including crystal singing bowls, Koshi chimes, Chau gong, and wave drum, while a guided yoga nidra practice carries you into deep rest. The vibration isn't just heard, it's felt — in the chest, the jaw, the belly, the places where you didn't even realize you were holding. Sound baths at Very Well KC run every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm and are consistently one of our most beloved offerings. First-timers arrive skeptical. Regulars don't miss a week. Bring a mat, a pillow, and a blanket — everything else is handled.

Strength from the inside out. Pilates is a movement system built on core stability, postural alignment, and controlled, precise movement — and it remains one of the most effective methods for building functional strength that actually transfers into daily life. At Very Well KC, Pilates is taught with a whole-body, rehabilitation-informed lens — making it as valuable for someone recovering from injury as it is for a seasoned mover looking to refine their practice. Classes are intentional and small, with instructors who understand biomechanics, not just choreography. Whether you're coming in because your back is done with you or because you want to move better in everything else you do, Pilates here has something real to offer.
Our Process
Movement Is Medicine. Seriously.
Not a slogan — a physiological fact. Regular movement regulates your nervous system, processes stored stress, improves sleep, balances hormones, and changes the way your brain responds to difficulty. Our classes make it accessible, not intimidating.
Rest Is Also A Practice
Yoga nidra, sound baths, and restorative movement aren't the soft option — they're often the hardest thing to let yourself do. Learning to fully rest is a skill. We teach it weekly.
A Room Full of People Doing the Same Work
There's something that happens in a shared movement or sound space that a solo home practice can't replicate. Community is part of the healing. Our regulars will tell you — the Wednesday night crowd becomes your people.
No Experience Required. Ever.
Whether you've never unrolled a yoga mat or you've been practicing for twenty years, our classes meet you where you are. No judgment, no performance, no pretzel poses required. Just show up.
